Interactive Visual Poetry
Please enjoy a survey of past and recent works of visual poetry in various formats including sculptural books, digital collage, mail art and more.
Most of my interactive visual poetry take the form of "comiku" (comics + haiku), which I design as sculptural books - primarily using the petal fold style. I also create postcard/mail art that includes ekphrastic haiku/tanka. Unless indicated otherwise, all poetic texts are my own original words.
My "comiku" petal fold books have been featured in Minnesota Center of Book Arts (MCBA)- 2023 New Editions showcase, and can be found in the library collections of
Minneapolis College of Art + Design, Hennepin County Public Library,
Virginia Commonwealth University, Bainbridge Island Museum of Art and elsewhere.
My works are available for sale at the Shop at MCBA.
Creative inspiration includes Mother Earth, the Sun, the Sky, the Moon, and the gifts they grace to all living beings; Mni Sóta Makoce; dreams; art; literature; my East Asian heritage; present moments and historical events. I enjoy experimenting with interactive comics, visual poetry, zine/bookmaking, paper dyeing (orizomegami) and marbling (suminagashi).
