2023 Mn Artist Residency @ Tofte Lake Center (TLC)
For 12 days at TLC, I was creatively nourished by being in community with fellow BIPOC artists from the Twin Cities.
Many thanks to Natasha Malmberg, textile artist, for sharing her suminagashi (Japanese marbling) expertise with me as doing so allowed me to experiment with color & abstraction on paper in ways I had not done so before. |
Photos of select poetry pop-outs & petal fold books I created during my residency. Many thanks to the clouds, lake and local wildlife who served as my muses. I am truly grateful for experiencing the many beautiful convergences of art and nature I experienced at Tofte Lake. Thank you, Liz Engelman and supporters of TLC, for providing artists like myself this wonderful opportunity. |

Dawn's examples of star and dragon books as models for workshop participants. She also provided suggestions on ways to integrate elements of nature into bookmaking such as using cyanotypes and frottage methods.
