Comiku (comics + haiku)
Scroll through examples below of various mixed media, visual poetry compositions including "comiku" (comics + haiku). Unless indicated otherwise, all poetic texts are my own original words.
My "comiku" petal fold books can be found in the library collections of the Minneapolis College of Art + Design, Hennepin County Public Library, Virginia Commonwealth University and are available for sale at the Shop at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA).
Creative inspiration reveals itself to me by being present with Mother Earth, the Sun, the Sky, the Moon, and the gifts they grace to all living beings; Mni Sóta Makoce; dreams; art; literature; my East Asian heritage; present moments and historical events. I enjoy experimenting with interactive comics, visual poetry, zine/bookmaking, paper dyeing (orizomegami) and marbling (suminagashi).
